Whynot had her maiden sail on wednesday night at MWYC. She came a creditable 3rd in the pursuit race and initially took some catching and recatching (after our little pitstop for repairs/partial sinking moment in the N12!)
Pete looked comfortable in the boat. He was showing a good turn of speed at times and seemed to be pulling off some pretty good roll tacks too.
Interesting to see if the Moth will become his weapon of choice or if the Supernova remains No 1?

Glad Pete went well, was hoping to sail myself but having spent most of the day at eye casualty (Sam had a disagreement with a rounders post) couldn't make it.
Personally I think the Moth is the best single hander for our limited water.
Now I've got to badger Pete into joining the BMBA & get to some opens.

Our latest Moth arrived yesterday evening, I wasn't there to see it.
Pete won yesterday evenings race in 'Whynot', he's had an excellent set of results so far, 2 firsts, 2 seconds & a forth & must be in contention for the series with 4 races to go.
Apparently several other people interested in Moths too, looking good for us. MWYC really is an ideal Moth club, why did it take 40 odd years before they found their way to Leamington??

Dunno but the pesky little blighters are now flickering around the incandescent light that is MWYC and if Pete is upping his game we might have to invest in a new fly swat. (Now there's a good name for a boat) ;D

Another great result for Pete yesterday in 'Whynot', he could win the Wednesday series.
Really goes to show what a good boat the Moth is on small inland waters.
Shame my sailing has gone to pot!!

Well done Pete ! 'Whynot' was always a fast boat in the hands of a good helm. Not so sure that I want to sail against you in any future opens. Only joking! Go and win the evening series so that people at MWYC recognise the Moth is an ideal boat for your water. I watch with interest.

Martin, Is that what you're going to call the rs300!! Sorry not been on here for a while! When I first sailed it I think I would have called it "Bran Tub" or suchlike because in a blow the darned thing scared me s****less!!! Fairly comfortable with it now but do need to use it more. Big showdown tonight as the first Wednesday evening series gets into its final stages. Anne and I can only do two more in the current series in the N12 before our hols and we need to make them count as Pete is right up there! Looking at the nice breeze now and feeling quietly confident but I guess it will drop away which really doesn't really suit us. Pete sailed his Moth in the RNLI pursuit on Sunday. He got well away early on but it was a bit of a lottery and the S'Novas and N12 passed him eventually. Still looks a quick boat though! Note to diary 861 is not my lucky number...it's not..it's not ;D

Another close pursuit race tonight. Pete stormed away at the start and it seemed like he was uncatchable. He then got a bit snarled up with a Comet Duo which enabled the chasing pack (N12 and Supernova) to make up some ground. We passed him with about 30 mins to spare...... And then it all kicked off again. We became the filling in a Supernova/Moth sandwich and had to do turns. Supernova got away. Pete got away but we managed to catch him again. He passed us once more on a downwind leg and then we caught him on the next leg. Into injury time and as the gun went we had an inside overlap at the mark but he was actually nearer to it. So 1st Supernova 2nd Moth and 3rd N12.
The N12 points higher and is quicker on the beat in all conditions but when it is light and drifty the N12 gets a bit sticky on a run and the Moth just flys along.
As we were leaving the Club Sue had her boat uncovered and the sail up. I think she is going to launch it after her duty is finished on Sunday. From what I could see it looked rather good.
