Andrew You will never catch one as you are far to slow! Maybe you could try using that rag of a sail you use as a net. New Boy

Whats wrong with my sail ?
Some things just get better with age - nothing wrong with sailing with a sail that has had a couple of seasons use. Just let me know when I need to stick up a 'racing' sail.
Anyway, catching the Avatar was easy, just needed to use the right sort of bait - Green Eggs and Ham !

How many seasons? You don't need a race sail just yet but I would get one ready if I was you! New Boy

A well made sail can have many seasons use and remain competitive. I'm sure that there is plenty of life still left in my sail.
As you've got a sail for each day of the week, I'm sure you could spare me one one and not notice its gone.
Comments about the quality of Lauras cooking won't help your supply of bacon butties this weeked.
When would it be convenient for me to drop off my tent so that it is all pitched and ready to roll on our arrival on Thursday night ?

Abby how did the 24hr race go? Really want to do it some time. I will see you on Sat at Staines. I will bring along the request for a rule change then if thats ok. Something like I request a change to rule 9a Spars. I propose the new rule to read, The Spars shall be made from any material. Is that all I need to say? New Boy

Hello All, sorry to butt in, butt, as a veteran singlehander, and having sailed just about every singlehanded boat there is (exept the British Moth), I was wondering what is considered to be the optimum helm weight for the boat? - I know you are going to say 'anything from 5 to 15 stones' but please try to be realistic! As a lad I always fancied having one, but as I was on the 'large side' I was put off by people saying I was too heavy. So, having worked my way up, (to Finns) and down again as I lost my youthfull weight and strength, I am looking for a new boat to sail. Great website by the way. P.S. I'm not going to tell you my weight, it will only give you ideas!

Hi singlehander, We have a wide range of weights sailing Moths competitively, but most are within the 10.5 stone to 13 stone bracket. The boat does however carry weight well and we have a few guys much heavier who compete very well at the top end of the fleet. Have a look at the "buy and sell" forum link for some quite nice boats.
Come and join us, we are a very friendly bunch.
Regards, Old Grey Fox( 11 stone 10 lbs)
