I was going to wait for Chrysalis to come out, but people keep asking so:- Saturday 28 March – Mid Warwicks Saturday/Sunday 18/19 April – Whitefriars (Training and Racing) - Trainer(s) required. I think we are sharing this with the Miracles. Sunday 3 MAY - FRAMPTON - THIS IS A CHANGESaturday 9 May – Cam Saturday – Monday 23 -25 May Fowey Sea Championships (NON SOMERVILLE) Saturday 6 June – Earlswood Saturday 13 June - Medley Sunday 5 July – Maidenhead THIS IS A CHANGESaturday/Sunday 25/26 July Broxbourne Wednesday – Saturday 12 – 15 August – Nationals – Staunton Herald Saturday/Sunday 5-6 September on the Thames – Desborough – and TBC STAINES SC (Tamesis is off) THIS ISA CHANGE Saturday/Sunday 3-4 October – Hunts end of the season – THIS IS A CHANGE. This was all set before we heard about the America's Cup Jamboree in Weymouth at the end of July - can't be helped. Nor can the flurry of activity between Fowey and Medley Scoring will be as 2013 and 2014 unless anyone objects. Comments, queries, complaints or amendments to any obvious mistakes to the Fixtures Secretary (maybe I should give you Gary's email )

Hi all
Thanks Abby I will now get on with booking leave for next year. Couple of questions. Is the Whitefriars training event also an Open meeting? Could the Frampton Open be included in 2015 please? I do not feel it is good to start the 2016 season in Oct 2015. Frampton is a great venue and always puts on a good day on and off the water and do not see a problem with them having two opens included in the 2015 program or them concluding the series. That is if they are happy to do so? Of course I will respect the committee's opinion and support the class at some of the opens as always.

Hello New Boy
yes, Whitefriars is an Open too - it will follow the pattern of the last couple of years of training Saturday, class discussion and bbq supper Saturday evening and racing Sunday (unless Rupert tells me I have this wrong).
We are considering Frampton and I will post anon.
thanks Abby

HELP Colin has spotted the most glaring error - THE FOWEY FFFFFFIVE IS NOT A SOMERVILLE EVENT. Sorry for any confusion on this point - it is a stand alone event (well, standing might be pushing the definition after the cider)

Sorry - there is now a bit of doubt about the date of the Hunts Open as the Solos are muscling in on the date. I will update this as soon as I know what is going on.

Hi Abby Could you confirm the scoring system for me please as the season is about to start and everyone should be clear before we get going. Eg at a two day event such as hunts is that one open or two separate opens and will they both count? New Boy

Hi Abby Sorry about last question as have just seen the race rules for this season and they answer that question. Have another question though as they do count as separate events why are the Frampton Oct 2015 results which was part of this years season no longer being counted? To me Hunts are Having two scoring events so why is Frampton different? Just wanted to clear this up before we get started or the year. New Boy

Ah New Boy - I figured you would pick me up on this at some point!
I may have this wrong, and I am sure Simon Hall will tell me if I do - but my recollection is that at any weekend event (Broxbourne/Hunts) one may only count one day's results, so if you sail both days only one will go in to Sailwave - this was the only way to keep it fair and I think it is how we have counted them for a 2-3 years now. I'm sure someone will tell me if I am, once again, wrong. (That's the problem with competing for the fun of it and never expecting to be anywhere near where it might matter in the long run).
We had a bit of a struggle with Frampton both with the change of date, and whether we would count two sets of results in the 2015 series. It was decided that, with input from several people, the results from Frampton 2014 will not count for 2015 - Andy Matthews won the event and would be the biggest 'loser' and he has graciously agreed to this.
I think it was also mooted and agreed that the Practice Race at the Nationals should count for the Somerville to encourage people to compete and finish - can someone remind me (and the rest of us) if that is correct? In which case it should be added in above.
I hope to see you all on the water soon. (I have a new secret weapon!)

Hi Abby I did suggest at the AGM that we include the practice race of the Nationals in the Somerville for the reasons you have given above. There was mixed feeling and this is in my opinion down to the fixtures Sec to decide if it is a good way to go or not.
Abby the reason I brought up the Frampton open in Oct of 2014 was because it was discussed voted on and agreed at the AGM that in would be the opening race for the 2015 season. The race took place and was there for everyone to attend. It affects more than just the person that was asked and as other events count the best position for two events if that applies. I see no reason why it should be any different in the Frampton case. I understand that Andy has been asked but that is not really the point, in my mind I do not think he should have been put in that position. It is that it was voted on and should be withheld. I am worried that any changes to the season once agreed on are wrong and that changes have happened to often in the past after the season has started. In the past we have added and cancelled races once the season has started and I would like to see this be the end of that practice. I understand that opens get cancelled due to no fault of anyone at times but this race had been run in good faith as part of the 2015 season. I have in past been to an open at which the last race was very nearly cancelled as only 3 people wanted to sail. I do not want to see this happen again in the future. It would have changed the results for that open and possibly the season. I hope you see my point and that I am not trying to cause a problem but simply highlight that we may have got a little complacent about the serious side of the racing. You all know I am all about the fun but feel we need to remember some people race for the series position and not just for the single open. I want us to be seen as a serious racing class who also have a great deal of fun. I am sorry if this has offended anyone as it was meant as a food for thought for the future. I see no reason for this to turn into a big deal and for my part I have said my piece which I have already said is meant to be of help to our class for the future. Others will clearly have their own opinions and I respect that. New Boy

Frampton will be run in line with the other two day events, that is to say that competitors may count one set of results only - either October 2014 or 2015.
If anyone else has any problems would they please email me direct.

Hi All It looks like my sailing is over for this year. I struggled at Fowey 5 but not been able to sail since. Signed of work with a Hernia. I am needing a small op so I need to be sensible for once and follow doctors orders. The good old NHS will keep me waiting for some time so I am taking some time to chill and slow life down a little. I will come along to the Nationals to watch which will be very hard as you all know I would rather be on the water. I will be back so make the most of the peace on the water as ASBO will be back in the mix in 2016. Before you all ask, I am fine but finding it frustrating not being able to sail. Have a great season and see you in a bar at a sailing club soon. New Boy

Just received my Nationals Special Chrysalis. In the list of forth coming Somerville events is says "26/27th Sept Hunts (End of Season Bash)". I thought this had changed?
