Now in its fifth season, the series kicks off this year with the Fernhurst Books Draycote Dash on 25th November. There have now been two more events added to the series, the Datchet Flyer and the Oxford Blue! These will be taking place on 14th-15th of December and the 4th of January respectively. Enter one or more events online at SailRacer, all with a single payment and entry form. There are various incentives to take part, such as the opportunity to win a range of prizes from our event sponsors, and at the Datchet Flyer and Oxford Blue we will be offering live tracking, giving you the opportunity to have your boat tracked to view replays, as well as use this to improve your performance! Each year the SailJuice Winter Series continues to grow with more events and entries than ever. Last year's series saw a 20% increase in entries, with 783 boats representing 91 different classes with a greater following than ever, seeing the Winter Series event site with moire than 42,000 visitors following the racing. I will own up that we are going - but in a Tasar rather than having to trail, rig, and derig 2 Moths...(sorry) Since we haven't really worked out how to sail it yet the comedy factor may be high!

I might be tempted to take the Moth to one of these events if we can get a few together. Anyone interested?
What events are you doing in the Tasar Abby? I can understand not wanting to tow two boats in the depths of winter! How are you finding the Tasar?

We are going to Draycot, Datchet, Graffham, Steve Nicholson and the Tiger Trophy. The Tasar is a learning curve....partially caused by having 2 helms in one boat :>). Also I have never sailed with the main cleated and using a track so my tacking is still a bit of a fumble, but we will get there. One problem, however, I will never get over... my legs are a bit short, so once I fhave sat on the side, I can't reach the floor of the boat - makes pushing ones backside out to hike rather than sit a 'little' difficult - not a problem that would ever have occured to me!

No certainly not the kind of problem I would ever have thought of! Sounds like good fun though.
I will try and get to at least one in the Moth - would be nice if we can get a few together for a bit of fun racing and to give the class a bit of exposure.
Is anyone up for it? Maybe one of the one day events? Oxford looks pretty central, though probably quite "fresh" seeing as its 4th Jan!

I was considering going to one or two - I can't commit at the moment though.

I have just had a look at the tagged web site in the intro and the Draycote Dash is on the 23/24 Nov not the 25th so I can't attend as I am working. Hope you have fun!

I've done it, I have just entered the Bloody Mary Pursuit. This will be my first event in Painted Lady - I am going more for fun than anything else. I have my I-Spy book packed, and now just need to find a way of stowing several hundred cans of red bull to get me through the 2 1/4 hrs... I am going with only two aims - to overtake one boat properly (i.e. not while it is capsized...), and to stay ahead of one boat.
I love looking at other types of boats and so should have a great time, I have a few things that I am hoping to see. On the classical note, there will be a Norfolk Punt which should be a great sight, and I would love to be overtaken by a Fireball on a full trapezing spinnaker reach. Of the more modern boats, I can't wait to see a modern Merlin, a RS600 and hopefully RS700. Then of course is our namesakes, the International Moths. Should be spectacular to be in the middle of it all. I see Ed and Abby/Gary have been to some of the other events in their Vago & Tasar, not sure if I'll see them, but if they are there, I hope it's a drifter...

We came across Jonathan and Neeha at the Bloody Mary - we were concentrating on stealing ideas from the other Tasar boat and so didn't stop chat. However,I heard this from Mike Barrett of Desborough
"I was in a Vision and spent most of the race battling with a beautiful old British Moth from Nottingham with a young helm. His smile was four ft. wide! Unfortunately my ability does not match my enthusiasm and he got me in the end!"
Well done Jonathan for flying the British Moth flag - it looked like a good day on the water - but I had hard time seeing in the glare of the sun. I guess that was your maiden sail in Painted Lady so a good start to the season.
