It has been known for some time that there is another British Moth at Nottingham which has only been sailed once or twice. The owner has this year not paid his club fees and so the club is in the process of trying to contact the member to see whether he wants his boat(s) or they will sell them for him.
Another member of the club and myself had a look at the Moth, as hearsay suggested that it was in a bad shape. We found however, that it looked in remarkably good condition for a wooden boat that had been sitting on its trolley for several years.
424 is a wooden boat with a black painted underside and varnished decks. The thwarts have circular holes to reduce wait, and the cordage seems in good nick and well looked after. She has a gold coloured Speed Spars mast. She bears a sticker from Broxbourne Sailing Club 2008 which I assume was from the previous owner.
Does anyone know anything about this boat? She looks well looked after by previous owners and although I haven't thoroughly checked the hull or tanks for rot, looks in lovely nick.

I know this is old thread but As I had an hour of idleness I trawled the moth site .In 1961 I was sailing at Mote park Maidstone S.C. Vernon Wiggins of the sailing club built two identical moths His and Hers for himself and his wife Ella, that was 424 and 425.They were fast and both won a few races, but they had a formidable competitor in Charlie Reeves. So they were bought by my parents Mark and Babs Boyes, and renamed Thumper and Bambi
