It is my unfortunate task to inform you that Rob Wilder has resigned as BMBA Chairman. In the interim period until the election of new officers at the AGM in August Abby Freeley and I will be acting as co-chair. Rob brought an enthusiasm to the class both as competitor and with his work on the committee - his departure with be a great loss. Like many of us, Rob has other commitments and sometimes we do not achieve as much as we would wish or please everybody. However, people, elected or otherwise, give their time to the Association and should be allowed the space to do so without harassment or unreasonable call on their time. Can I remind all members of the RYA Racing Charter - Principles and Practices. www.rya.org.uk/racing/Pages/RacingCharter.aspxColin

this news is a great shame. i thought he did a good job as chairman, which is one of those jobs where you cannot please all the people all of the time. as colin said, his departure from the committee will be a great loss. i do hope he stays sailing moths as he is a great bloke to have a drink with! duncan

This is the first I have heard. It is indeed a sad loss to the association that Rob has decided to resign as Chairman of the association for whatever reason. Having been on the committee for a number of years I am all too well aware that it is almost impossible to please all people all of the time and that hopefully as an officer of the association and as a committee one can achieve a fair equilibrium amongst the membership. The class has gone from strength to strength over the past years and sitting quietly counting the pennies the class has not been in a better position. This is largely down to the efforts and simple enthusiasm of a number of people and Rob certainly can be counted amongst those. Thankfully we have the class staulwarts in Colin Hall and Abby Freeley, you can be guaranteed of my support and hopefully I will make a few more open meetings and be at the Nationals this year Ian Edwards Hon Treasurer

Well said Ian, it's a shame Rob has resigned, he did a great job for our 80th anniversary last year & this year is looking good for fixtures & nationals too. I hope Rob isn't giving up moths entirely as it would be a real loss for the class.

Many thanks to Rob for his hard work as Chairman of the class. I think we can all agree that the 80th year was a big success with Rob at the helm.
I too hope Rob keeps sailing Moths, a worthy winner of many trophies last year.
Also, big thanks to Abby and Colin for taking on the role in the interim until the AGM.

Many thanks to Rob for his hard work leading the BMBA during its 80th year. Recently he has been under extra pressure form work and his personal life and feels he is unable to commit the way he would like.
I am sure this is not the last time we will hear from him and I look forward to competing against him shortly.

Quite right Simon. I think we owe everyone behind the website a great deal. Often a class website is the first port of call for someone thinking of joining a class and they say first impressions count. Lets not forget that us regulars enjoy the benefits of a good website too. I cant really remember the last website but I don't think there was much wrong with it. Updating it and keeping it fresh says a lot for our class. I think we should be proud of what is a great asset. We all need to make sure we keep sending you plenty of pictures and reports to upload now.
