Only just over a week to go until what has to be one of the most interesting moth opens of the year.
Ideal for anyone who want to put in some tacking practice before the Nationals and somewhere everyone should sail at least once!
The first race will be at 11.00am followed by a break for lunch. Race two will be handicapped based on the morning's results, conditions permitting the last race will be a up river experience.
The entry fee will be £5 and this will include lunch and tea and cake after sailing.
There will be a BYO BBQ in the evening with camping available at the club and I will be off to Whitefriars on the Sunday morning.
As ever it would be really useful to have numbers in advance to help with the catering.

Andrew, I will miss Chippenham I'm afraid as it clashes with a family commitment in London that evening.. How is the river running with all this rain? Chairman Rob

No problem, thanks for letting us know.
The river is very up and down at the moment but I will be keeping an eye on it next week.

Hi Andrew,
I am sorry I can't come either. I am away for the weekend. I would recommend this event to anyone who can go, it is great fun particularly the up river race.

Oh Dear! Gary is picking up his new mast from aardvark on Saturday so I don't think we will be there in time to sail either! I would rather camp there than at Whitefriars, but I haven't got that far in the planning yet. Actually.....first part of the plan is to actually find where Aardvark is!

Abby
Get Gary to drop you off on the way to Aardvark. Then you can sail and he can pick up his mast ;-)

Hoping to be there with 756 (bit reluctant to risk 880 on the confines of the river). Dogs are ok aren't they?

Hi Abby
Arrardvark is near Weston-Super-Mare so we are on route and you are welcome to camp whatever, let me know either way when you have decided.
Hi Tony
Dogs are absolutly fine but need to be kept on a lead in the club, 756 would be my choice of boat!
See you both at the weekend, any other takers?

Will anyone else be joining us this weekend? At the moment we don't really have enough people coming along to run the open so if you will be joining us please let me know by tomorrow evening.
I am also a bit concerned about the flow on the river that was too strong to allow sailing this evening, I plan to make a decision about what we are going to do tomorrow evening.

Sorry but it now looks a little unlikely I'll make it - too late a finish to last nights club race means boats are not packed on trailer, and work may make it difficult before Saturday. It might just prove more sensible to get the epoxying on of my errant rubbing strake on 880 and pack for Sunday.

Thanks all, given the expected turnout and potential river conditions I have decided to cancel Saturdays open.
Mark you are always welcome for a cup of tea and Abby you are welcome to camp anyway if you want to.
Hopefully see you all on Sunday.

Good call from Andrew. The river is running far too fast. Thanks for the coffee, Andrew.
