A little over 2 weeks to go before we kick off at Whitefriars with our training weekend . March 24/25th.Please note that this is a Moth Training Event and one that we are buddying up with our CVRDA friends.Whether you have a Classic or newer Moth I am convinced you will get some benefit and certainly some help if needed. Need to finalise on who will is going/planning to attend as our Hosts need to know. Quite pleased by the support already especially from some of the "Northern Lads" who are planning to come down. I now have the John Claridge new deep cockpit boat on loan and for extended testing. If you did not get to the Dinghy Show to see it this will be your chance to take your first peek at the little darling.
Please let me know by e-mailing me as soon as you can.
If anyone is planning to come to the Frampton Open the following Saturday[March 31st] and would like to leave your pride and joy at Frampton on the Sunday evening then I am sure we can arrange something...

Providing my boat doesn't fall apart this weekend on its first sail since the repairs, I'll be heading to Whitefriars next weekend from sunny Yorkshire.
Coming down Friday as it is a long haul so hotel booked for Friday and Saturday nights, leaving the boat at Frampton and coming back down for the open the weekend after that.
By shares in Shell or BP!
Cheers
Paul

Well, that was a fun weekend! Good to see everyone. Hope you learned lots...
3 comments off the top of my head for increased speed - remember to let the main out a little (the boom should go UP, as the kicker won't be tight!) when the wind drops - imagine you are helping the sail breathe. Also, get clear air whenever remotely possible, and TACK ON THE HEADERS!
Thanks to Roger for all his help in running things as well as coaching, and also for the use of his baby blue flying machine!

An excellent weekend, well worth the trip.
Learned a few things, first sail with new mast and boom (quick!), new floor declared solid and stiff and nobody laughed at the evidence of my (lack of) boat building skills, tuned the rig a bit, loads of starts and close sailing, chats with other moth sailors, look-see at other moths to nick controls ideas, had a quick sail of the blue one (very quick!), brilliant sunshine all weekend and a nice breeze for training in.
Absolutely loved it.
Frampton next week.
Cheers Paul

Thanks first... - to Rupert Whelan for allowing us to play with CVRDA guys. - to Whitefriars S.C. for having us for 2 Days. - to all of you who attended [15 Boats] ...including some very long distance visitors...Yorkshire[Nr Russia], Nottinghamshire and Suffolk
Report and Pics to follow on Y&Y ,here and in Chrysalis. Conditions could not have been better for a Season Opener. The event was all about Training but for most it was pre-season practice as well Stars without doubt over the 2 days of the near 15 mini-races and full races held were.. - Saturday - Ian Haywood,Paul Thomas-Peter and Gary Tompkins. - Sunday - Gary Tompkins,Rupert Whelan and Junior Chris Hawkins.
"Blue One" was tried out by several interested potentials and deemed to be very good. Getting the best out of her in racing conditions were Abby Freeley, but notably Rupert Whelan and Gary Tompkins.Rupert really enjoying himself in the Sunday mini-races and Gary winning the first of the Afternoon longer races before he just had to be beaten by his own boat ! Methinks JC may be getting a few phonecalls this week...
So now we are off... ...What next....its Frampton ! Two visiting Boats have already arrived ... come and join us.

Thanks to all for training and welcome.
Chris is encouraged by the progress he made in 'Best of British' 459. Even if we are refixing the floor in it during this week - At least it will be dry and we might even be ready again for the weekend. The crack has aready been opened up and is drying in the sun as I speak.
Touble is, I only have white paint - so his boat will be slowly changing from yellow to white. No biggy.
We will get the centre main conversion done as well. whilst we are waiting.
Thanks again
Steve H
