OK, so my luverly daughters are offerring to buy me a new cover for 754 for XMAS ......... can anyone give any recommendations on where to get a boom up cover ?
I'm sure Father Christmas will duly deliver and that I will look suitably surprised on XMAS day . ;D

Rob - many thanks ..... I'll check out the websites. 754 is proving to be a lot of work. I stripped the decks & cockpit (include stripping 2 pack varnish PLUS rubbing down neat epoxy to get back to bare wood. Then I cut holes in side tanks to fit hatch covers .... because there was a ruddy great split in the starboard side tank ply.... then re-epoxy'd all the fillet joints inside the cockpit .... and finally used Oxalic acid on the decks & cockpit to bring out the black marks and clean the ply.
Then I decided to turn it over and do the hull ... which is where things got interesting. I stripped back all the varnish & expoy (same deal as the decks) ... and found that there were a number of areas where the wood had shrunk, resulting in less than ideal concave areas on the hull. I have been filling using ultra lightweight epoxy filler and rubbing down to fair ... applied three coats of epoxy and now just finished 3 coats of white 709 perfection .... waiting for last coat to go rock hard before I rub down.... so ... more work than I expected and the fairness of the hull is still a concern in places ...am hoping this final coat and rubbing down will take out the final areas of low / high points. I plan to keep the sides varnished.
I'll soon be turning it back over to epoxy & varnish the topside. .... reckon the strip & paint phase will be finished by XMAS.

Covers - Very durable top covers in heavyweight PVC Nylon from BANKS. Mast up flat covers ideal for trailing too. Each one is tailored to fit with good secure tie down straps etc... Ours stay on the boats all year ...secure off the decking and ventilate occaisionally. To my mind better than Polycotton offerings. - Best fit U/Cover that I have seen and use is from SPEED. In a heavier weight re-inforced Nylon.
- Padded Mast Bags good workmanship and a good product from P&B.
- Boom Bags make your own.
- Padded Rudder Bags again well made product from SPEED.

I got from Sail Register for 568 and it's pretty good. The only problem is that the openings for the shrouds aren't quite in the right place.
It's probably all to do with the age of my boat but I wish that I had measured properly rather than just asking for a British Moth cover off the shelf.

We had two from P&B last year , and I had an undercover too, all fit well without excessive measuring. They are the breathable boom up sort. The Sail register one I had for the Laser is ok, but prefer the P&B. Abby
