Rob ...Chrysalis duly received all bight and shiny ...well done to all involved. Can I correct some errors in the Gear Chart ... - Tim Davison,s Sail No is in fact 846
- 880 is built by Claridge Composites. Foils - C/board - Claridge/Witts Rudder - Higson/Witts Boom - Selden Carbon Sailmaker - was in fact North not Banks.
- 872 - Built by John Claridge but is of all wood construction [as is 881,846,818,834 & 817]
Agree that the list does reveal some very interesting details... Perhaps No 1 and most importantly for the Class is again that older boats can do very well. 6 were all wood boats with 2 being 15 years approx old. Once again the Helm weight variations prove that the Moth carries weight well .....3 of us are "Petite Heavyweights"who managed to check in some good results ! Carbon Masts were used by 6 boats in the top 10 and Carbon Booms by 8 out of the top 10. As for new or reasonably[new in 2011] new Sails only 3 boats used older Sails. Message seems very clear ...and one that we have been saying for some time....get a reasonable Hull in fair to good condition fit a new "engine" and get out there and do well !

Message seems very clear ...and one that we have been saying for some time....get a reasonable Hull in fair to good condition fit a new "engine" and get out there and do well ! Roger Witts I'm thinking of putting this to the test next season! I'm forming a radical plan to sell the Streaker and just sail 784 next season using the not inconsiderable funds gained from the sale to purchase a few go faster bits for 784. - New sail
- New centre board
- New mast & boom (possibly carbon!)
My reasoning is that if 784 gives up the ghost again I can always transfer all this go faster stuff to a new boat. I'm hoping to sail 784 on the Ouse at Yorkshire Ouse SC a couple of times next season as I'm sure it would generate some interest in the class. I may even get on the road to some opens but this does involve some not inconsiderable mileage and the need to convince my wife that trips around the country sleeping in a tent are the basis of fun weekends! It does all sound like an idea dreamt up at the pub but it might work. Cheers Paul

Chrysalis is currently wending its way out to the membership and some others so hopefully you should be receiving this by Wednesday. I do however have a considerable number of spare copies Rob Wilder had printed with the intention of having these available at the dinghy show.If you are going to the dinghy show on the Saturday and you live in the Stratford upon Avon area are you able to take them with you. Give me a call on 01789750269 if you are able to help Ian E

I've just received the Feb 2012 edition. I have to compliment all of those involved in the presentation and contents. Well done all !
It is nice to read some very well prepared articles. I particularly enjoyed reading Chris Latham's story of his 1st Nationals. All Moth helms should take heed from his experience. You too could also benefit from participating in our 80th years activities which promises to be something really special.
I remember well my 1st National & Open meeting & that was some 25 years ago. There is no doubt we have something very special in our 'Class' ! Friendship & enthusiasm just to name 2.
