I have extremely reluctantly to put ONONO 779 up for sale. I am afraid age has caught up with me and my knees no longer want to sail dinghies of any sort. So, if any one is interested, I'd be pleased to hear from them. She is ready to sail, but would benefit from a coat of paint. Included is a road trailer, launching trolley and a fairly new cover, I'm looking for somewhere around £350. She's at the Middle Nene Sailing Club, in Northamptonshire

Hi Bryn, is this moth still for sale? Is it a wooden boat and does it have transom or centre sheeting? Andy

Bryn ..."ONONO" is most definitely of composite construction. GRP Hull with a wooden top.

Hi Bryn, Thanks for getting back. I've bought a moth from elsewhere since I asked about onono so I'm no longer in the market. Good luck finding a new home for it. Andy

I might know someone at Broxbourne who'd be interest in a Skinner at this price ... I'll have a word with them. 779 is a Skinner right ?
Roger - are you sure it's composite .... if it is a Skinner then I'm pretty sure the first Skinner composite was 798 .... but I may be wrong and my memory is not great ;-)

779 is certainly not a Skinner ! Definitely a composite wooden topped example ! She was one of the "Frampton Three,s " job lot purchase from Tommy Cooper some years back when we bought 3 Hulks. She was moulded[ a sturdy girl as Laura called her !] we think by a group of guys at Broxbourne[so the tale went]..Post Office Sailing Club or some organisation like that. We had her re-decked...Whelan Shipyards in downtown Purton,Wiltshire...initially for Georgia Honey to sail and then for the then Frampton Juniors to use. Laura sealed the decks and endorsed them with a snazzy paint job and I fitted her out with some hard to break/simple fittings and she was ready to go. "ONONO" was and is not one of the quickest Moths ..due mainly to her weight ...but she gave us plenty of fun at Frampton and was sailed by many and was deemed to be bullet-proof. I am sure she will continue to give her new owner a great deal of enjoyment and fun. She was later sold to "Team Gribble" and I think may have made it down to Fowey for the first Salty Weekend and the odd Open meeting before being sold to Bryn. What happened to the 3 boats retrieved from Broxbourne - "ONONO" still exists. - a bare GRP Hull was nicely decked by Sid & Andrew PARKER-Mowbray and is at Frampton named "Merlin" - "Suspense" originally intended for Georgia had gone to far and was deemed not restorable but lives on as the "Frampton Suspense Trophy"...her bow plaque mounted !

ONONO was originally from the Yorkshire Ouse SC or was it the British Transport/now Railway Heritage SC at York. At one time the club had several Moths and they moulded 5/6 hulls from whatever mould they had acquired as a club group. All gone now unless anyone knows better. I owned it for about 3 weeks, having taken it from Matt Stephenson, (Slim-boy-fat) and I unloaded it to someone at Hertford County YC. Matt bought it from the original owners (have photo if required) at York in around 1996. Goffo

I did the RYA first aid course a month or so ago and the instructor was from RISC. He mentioned that they used to have 6 British Moths but he didn't know what had happened to them. I was going to ask around further (as I've been trying to blag a sail on the Ouse without having to become a member of the two clubs that sail at Naburn) but this has answered the question.
