Hi all,my name is Robin Boyes, now resident in the west country. There is a great sailing spot called Roadford Reservoir down here. I hired an assymetric and frightened myself silly, and her indoors. I guess wonky knees and arthritis does something after all!So I thought why not go back 50 yrs and have a Moth again,I last sailed one regularly at Mote Park Maidstone in the fifties, occasionally winning against Charly Reeves and the Wigginses.I would guess an oldie with a deep cockpit would do. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi It would be great to have you join us once more. If you would like a trip up to tropical Frampton on Severn to check out the Moths then you are very welcome. We are having an open on the 10 of Oct and we are expecting 20 plus boats covering every builder and from very old to very new. We will be having food available through the day with an evening meal and live band too so you could make a day of it. It would be a good chance and probably the last this year to see so many Moths together. There will be at least one boat for sale there too. 731 is available for use on the day if you fancy racing and is deep cockpit and about to go on sale. New Boy

Thats a nice offer. I am going to look at zig zag ,so if its as good as it looks ill have it sorted, then ill have to relearn the racing rules or have they been abolished in this age of PC. Robin

After racing today I think the rules only apply to some people. Should add all Moths were very well behaved. I have seen zig zag several times down at tropical Frampton. Good luck and hope to see you on the water soon. New Boy

Robin Glad to hear that you may be returning to Moths. Elaine,s Zig-Zag could be the perfect return-boat for you....seems to go reasonably well too. Roadford if I am not mistaken is in Cornwall or at least West Devon...... None the less come and join us next Saturday[10th]at FRAMPTON for the final Open of the Season. If you dont get Zig Zag we spent a little time getting 731 ready yesterday and she is ready to go with a new-ish Rowsell Sail too ... In any case please keep us updated on your Boat manouvres. Roger Witts FRAMPTON MOTHS

Robin Glad you have bought ZIG ZAG . She has been a reasonably regular Visitor to Frampton this season with Elaine and knows her way round the Pond....if you get into trouble just let go she will get you around ! Yes you can camp at Frampton...actually in the Club Compound. Serenaded by Geese and Swans in the early hours .... Not sure about the Lakes water temp at the moment ,we had no Moth swimmers at the weekend ! However if you get a dunking we have Hot Showers and Hot Food to get you back to normal. We have a Bar too that usually helps with the recovery !!! See You Saturday so it seems. Roger Witts Tropical Frampton

I can confirm the water at Frampton tho not tropical wasn't particularly cold, I always seem to get very wet retreiving my boat . Might get the hang of it eventually.

Hi Robin, It's an end of season bash, and not part of the (now finished) Traveller series, so I'm quite sure the BMBA won't mind Frampton including a guest or two in the day's sport, of which you can consider yourself one, and most welcome

We will be camping it up too, so you can get your Boat Certificate signed officially on Saturday too - before the bar opens would be good so I can sign in a relatively straight line..Abby
