Things are progressing. While I have the foredeck off I have put in some extra strengthening in. Hopefully I will be bale to put extra tension on the rigging when complete. (More photos have been added to the set already on the web)
Next I need to epoxy the inside of the bow bouyancy tank then I will start to trim the plywood for the foredeck. If the weather stays good in the evenings I hope I will have Bertie ready for the Maidenhead SC Open day on May 3rd. I want to show off Bertie in the hope to get more of them on the water here in sunny(!) Maidenhead.

At last. Bertie now has a foredeck! Many hours of cutting, planing and sanding has paid off and today I was able to cover up the front bouyancy tank. farm3.static.flickr.com/2763/4531505421_4052715807.jpgAll that is needed now is to put in the inspection hatches, epoxy, re-epoxy the areas that were badly affected over he winter; revarnish and refit. Then Bertie should be ready for the water. My target date is still May Bank holiday!

After a few last minute hiccups Bertie will be (hopefully) on the water for the first time since the accident tomorrow evening. The boat now has a new foredeck, a new mast, some new rigging. I will see how Berie behaves and see what is next to do.

Bertie floated last night. THe first time back on the water since February 28th! All I have to do is now is to get used to and retune the rig. Anyone got a secondhand sail?

Nearley lost the mast (Again) today. Rounded the leeward mark only to pull out two of the four screwws that hold the fore stay plate to the hull. Luckily the nearest bank wasnt far away and was able to rescue the whole situation. All I need to do is refit a new forestay plate and then be back on the water again!

Poor old "Bertie" .... Simon if possible fit something like an Allen A4001E Bow Fitting. Apart from holes to bolt the fitting to the deck[if at all possible]there is a tang that you will be able to get 3 screws in shear.I usually cut the tang down and only put in 2 screws.

I have ordere one from P&B lastnight. Its one made by RWO with the Tang. I will also move the forestay tensioning so it puls right from the front ie pulls up the tang instead of the deck. Attachments:
