British Moth no. 296 is available to anyone who fancies a restoration job. I went to see it, and decided to rescue it and pass it on, as the elderly owner was moving house, and was going to burn it if she couldn't offload it. It's been hung from a garage roof for many years, so is dry. It's also complete, with one sail, tho probably needs buoyancy bags. The condition is sound, but a splintering of a small section of the track on the wooden boom will need attention, as will the centre board, which has sheared cleanly below the handle, and will require putting together. The wooden mast is sound, and the rest of the hull is sound with no rot. There is a small indent at the front of the foredeck which needs filling, but beyond that it's a strip and re-paint and varnish job. She's stored in Market Drayton, but I'm bringing back a couple of dinghies soon, so she absolutely has to go. There's no trailer, but I might be able to sort out an old trolley. She's an old boat, but she could be beautiful again!

She still IS in Market Drayton! Do come and take her if you're interested. She's under heavy duty polythene at the moment. No trailer though.....

Hi, Well if you ever find a way to get an old moth to fly south for the winter I would be happy to take it in. T2

It's very unlikely I could do that, and there's no trailer with her, unfortunately. Where are you?
