Sorry Chris - senior moments adding up.
If anyone can think of a good venue for a weekend in July let me know - Staunton Herald only wanted on day and it's too far for that, Banbury said no. I want us to be 'central' not 'east' or 'west' (Chew Valley said no) Chichester? Lymington? Ideas? thanks abby

Abby I am prepared to ask Earlswood Lakes, ideal Moth venue. May have to be on a Saturday and accept we share the water with the Saturday sailing events. Let me know to my home e mail. Happy Christmas to all, see you on the water in 2014 Ian

What about one of the many sailing clubs in Poole Harbour?

I would certainly be up for Poole Harbour! Earlswood would make a good moth venue too if its how I remember it.

Somerville Trophy 2014 One new trophy, two new venues and 20 chances to beat Toby Cooper
As mentioned in the last issue of Chrysalis there will be a new prize for the boat with a hull number between 1 and 750 who does the best in this summer’s Somerville. To a certain extent this will have to be self policing, ie. If you know your boat has an early number but very little of the original hull left it’s up to your conscious. For the weekend dates, each day is a separate event, but only one day will count towards Somerville scores if you sail both days. The Comments are mine, if I have the facts wrong let me know.....
Saturday 29 March – Mid Warwickshire Yacht Club THIS IS THE CORRECT ADDRESS NOW (SORRY)... Willes meadow reservoir, Leamington spa, cv31 1lf. Current Holder – Roger Witts A popular venue to begin the season. It’s a very short sail to the start line, in fact, it’s a very short sail to every mark. Think knitting pattern courses, friendly welcoming members, good food, great cakes.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April – Whitefriars Sailing Club Lake 26, Cotswold Water Park, Ashton Keynes, Wilts SN6 6QR Current holder –Toby Cooper We are again sharing Saturday with the Lightning fleet and this is planned as a training/boat tuning session headed by Toby Cooper. Sunday we will race alongside the Whitefriars Club Racing. Last year the feature of the day was a long planing reach from one end of the lake to the other – and I still smile at the memory! Saturday night we will again have a barbecue and a discussion evening so that any issues can be aired before the AGM and usefully talked through. Camping available.
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May – Broxbourne Sailing Club Meadgate Road, Nazeing, Essex EN9 2PB Current Holder – Toby Cooper Camping across the road at[ can’t find the name] Book in advance Two days sailing, again shared with the Lightning fleet. Tommy Cooper’s boat definitely qualifies for the older boat trophy! Well run racing, nice facilities – and don’t follow the local boy thinking he will know the course!
Saturday 14 June - Medley Sailing Club Oxford OX2 0NJ Current Holders - Medley Bowl – Toby Cooper Bossoms – Tim Davison The first of the river events, and hopefully the rain will have stopped, the currents will be ok and the sun will be shining. British Moths on the Thames with the narrow boats, canoes and baptisms and more great food. For the non-sailors there are nice walks along the river.
Saturday 21 June – Cam SC – Clayhithe Road, Waterbeach, CB25 9HZ Current Holder – Cam Coffee Pot -Toby Cooper The second River Open at a beautiful little club on the Cam. Last summer was a bit too exciting but this is usually a fun sail. Camping available.
Sunday 6 July – Maidenhead SC –Summerleze Road, Maidenhead SL6 8HZ A new venue. This is Simon Hall’s home club and this will be a good event to promote the class so we hope to see lots of you supporting this Open.
Saturday 19 July – Earlswood Lakes SC – Malthouse Lane Park, Earlswood, Warwickshire B94 5RY PLEASE NOTE I HAVE AMENDED THIS BECAUSE I HAD IT WRONG..... A second new venue – home club to Ian Edwards and John Pickford. It’s always a risk for clubs that don’t have their own regular fleets to let us have an Open. Again, lets repay the favour and have a good turnout. Last event before the Nationals
Wednesday 13 – Saturday 16 August – The Nationals – Northampton SC, Pitsford Resevoir, Northampton Road, NN 9DG Practice Race – Colin Hall Teddy Hicks – Toby Cooper Coupe de Lion – Toby Cooper Marlow Ropes – Tim Davison Obelisk Trophy – Toby Cooper Amethyst –Robbie Claridge Thompson Trophy – Toby Cooper Solent Cup – Toby Cooper Brent Cup – Toby Cooper Veteran Trophy – Tim Davison Ladies – Abby Freeley We had a great time at Staunton Herald last summer but let’s see if we can get more than 29 British Moths on the water this year. If you look through the results both at the Nationals and in the Somerville, Toby Cooper was not invincible so there is everything to sail for in a club that always does well for us.
Saturday 6 September – Desborough Sailing Club – Ferry Lane, Shepperton TW17 9LQ – Current holder - Andy Matthews The third River Open. British Moths have been sailing at Desborough since 1949. Teamed up with ......
Sunday 7 September – Tamesis – Trowlock Way, Broom Road, Teddington, TW11 9QY – Current holder – Andy Matthews Andy Matthews travelled over from Chew Valley to win both these last year. A wonderful squall went through Tamesis and the carbon mast of an A-Rater came crashing down. This year we will be sailing alongside normal Club Racing, no A-Raters, but maybe we can tempt Rob Wilder back into a British Moth.
Sunday 14 September – Frampton on Severn SC – Watery Lane, Frampton on Severn GL2 7DZ – Current holder – Roger Witts Always a popular venue, ‘Tropical Frampton’ provides good sailing and excellent hospitality and is always well attended. One of the great things about sailing British Moths is the beautiful locations, the close racing – fun on and off the water.
Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September - The Season Ends at Hunts Sailing Club Harrison Way, St Ives, Huntingdon PE27 4YA – Current holder – Toby Cooper A final weekend on a nice bit of water – well, I would say that as this is where Colin, Elaine, Ed, Richard, Gary and I sail. Camping available, on site bar. We will have Saturday racing to ourselves, and end of season dinner, and Sunday we will share with the Club sailing.

Looks like a great list of events this year. Thanks for all your hard work Abby. Must point out for anyone thinking of coming to the season opener at M.W.Y.C, please do not use the address listed above, use the one listed on the notice of race( Willes meadow reservoir, Leamington spa, cv31 1lf. The Hatton address is for the main club and they play with narrow boats and I don't think any of us want to race on the grand union canal. Cheers for the address change Abby.

Will I be able to camp (campervan) at Whitefriars?

Campervan won't be a problem, in the outer car park. As you can imagine, the camping field itself is a little damp, currently!

I guess if you book into the Hobourne Cotswold site, you could walk to the club, though the wooden bridge is on the opposite side of the lake to the club.
