Hi all
In a freak accident involving the stronger than usual current on the river Trent and a capsize, I have managed to significantly bend my mast sideways. I am currently putting an insurance claim in, but I don't know whether it will be fixed/replaced before the Nationals...
In case that it is not, does anyone going to the nationals or living in the midlands or Essex have an old/spare mast lying around that could be on standby for me to borrow. I am not expecting to be very competitive and so any old (straightish) stick will do.
Thanks in advance

I have an M7 mast you can borrow, shrouds/forestay may not be the correct length. I live in Haverhill Suffolk, if you are close you could see if it fits?

Thanks for the offer, I live in Nottingham but am going to see the Olympics this weekend and staying with my parents in Essex (Chelmsford) and so I would struggle to bring the boat to try it on. I will try and get some measurements tonight.
For information, my current mast is a Needlespar stepped on the foredeck and the shrouds could be nicked of it, but wouldn't fit another make.

The mast has shrouds on it but will probably not be the right length for your boat, if they are too short that is easily fixed, if they are too long it is a problem. I could bring it to the Nationals for you to try but if it doesn't fit it is a bit too late to do anything about it. The M7 is stiffer than a Needlespar, I think, so might not suit your sail either.

Pinnell & Bax are only 10 minutes away & can make up shrouds while you wait.

Hi Jon, I have a Needlespar mast you are welcome to borrow for the Nationals if you would prefer to stick with something you know, and avoid needing new shrouds. The mast is currently at Medley in Oxford and you are welcome to come and collect, or you can pick up from me at the Nationals - I was planning to bring it as a spare; I plan to be there on Wednesday morning. Cheers Toby

Hi all, sorry for the delay in replying, I heard rumour that there was a brand new mast ready to go for sail at Severn Sails. Unfortunately they have sold it, but they have a Needlespar that I can borrow which should just fit in no problems. Thanks for the offers, I'll see you all at the Nationals.
