Don't know if anyone has been following the introduction of the X1 as a special purpose 2 man river boat but they have just announced the X0 for lighter crews. A few people thought it would be a single person boat and the topic on Y&Y has turned to discussing a "more modern British Moth" (not my words!). If anyone wants to have a look and make comments the topic is here: www.yachtsandyachting.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9035&title=x1-announces-x0Just thought it might be of interest

....like the reference to "pipe and slippers"! Thanks for your contribution Rupert to help the non informed ones along..... We do not knock other Classes, never have, never will...there is room for all. Guess as ever lots miss the point of British Moth sailing. Modern boat designs are undoubtedly fantastic and great performers thro and above the water and undeniably great fun. British Moths are also fantastic to sail, demanding, adaptable, very tweakable and above all else make you smile. Could be that scow bow and the chuckle of a bow wave or the sheer misconceptions that we are an old river boat ! I invite anyone to take a look at current British Moths for the modern rig/controls and variation offered in terms of foils, cockpit layout etc while still retaining a one-design hull...you may be surprised . A small Class yes ...but one that has lasted 80 years and is still very active. Perhaps most importantly as well as being an iconic class and the first boat for many we have always have had and still have,if not more so in recent years,a reliable loyal following and a very sociable, active and we hope helpful association . ....now where did I put my pipe !

p.s. Good to see "New Boy" being ...well "New Boy" on this Y&Y thread. No better supporter of the Class in a unique style !!! [Lasers for breakfast ?....all good fun ]
