Ken Ford the founder of Lea Avon sailing club (Highams Park Lake) Passed away suddenly on Monday the 4th April without Ken I would probably never have found sailing and may others who grew up in East London would have been the same.
Ken built lots of Moth in the 60s and 70s any who know you could be sailing one.

Sorry, but I never new Ken or new much about him. Laurence Clarke new him well, but LASC closed when the KG opened for sailing in 71. The old clubhouse was still there whe I had a drive round about 10 years ago, but little evidence of sailing. The lake is next door to the home of my old Fireball crew, Mike Shepherd & there are still connections to KG members. Mike Keats is now Musto-ing at KG but was a LA Moth helm as a boy & I've a suspicion that Ken's daughter became Mikes girlfriend; Paul perhaps you can follow this thread? When LA closed, several LA lads would have gone into Fireballs at KG (all moved on now....). Broxbourne probably took up more of the slack as they could offer Cadets as well as Moths for the younger helms of the time. Last I heard, Ken still owned at least one Moth down at Benfleet (10 years ago/check the yearbook), so maybe worth an ask if paul or anyone has direct contact. Regards Goffo
