I thought this would be a good place to ask our leaders Questions. 1st question I gave Abby the request for a rule change to rule 9a spars. Is the letter I gave her all I need to do and is it ok? New Boy

Mark,
From memory, the committee has to notify the membership at least two weeks before an intended AGM. This notification should also include any rule changes or proposals from the committee or a paid up member of the BMBA. Proposals made after that time and especially at the AGM cannot be voted on.
The intention of this rule is to prevent any controversial rule change being bounced through (i.e., “let’s vote that Mark Wiltshire has a five minute head start” and you pack the hall with a bunch of friends that you have brought membership for!). It gives the wider membership, who may not otherwise attend the AGM, the opportunity to do so.
Historically the class magazine was the normal mechanism but I guess that the committee should ensure that the paid up membership should be notified directly – the forum may not suffice.
