Trying to find out what happened to this boat, for the builder Jeff who last sailed it @hunts in the late 70's.... Has anybody heard of the boat since? In the book as belonging to a J Palser, St Ives, presumably Cambs?

The club at Saltford is Bristol Avon, most of the Moths there either rotted away or ended up at Chippenham, Fenella Gass is the person to speak to there BB

Have tried to make contact with BASC without much success so we visited them ! Approx 6/7 Moths left and one out sailing by an Intrepid Junior !!! Looks like a couple have not moved for a while. BASC still looks like it did 30 years or so ago with the river very sailable[low banks and trees only on one side]unlike CS&CC that have been affected by high banks and trees/bushes. What about the Committee Fixtures Secretary approaching BASC and investigating the possibility of an Open next season to hopefully give the Class a re-boot and encouragement ?

The last contact for 735 is as per the class records. I did a chase in 1989/90 and got no reply then. John Palser last sailed In the Red at the 1982 Nats, accompanied by his (quite curvy) girlfriend and they, like many were camping. The story goes that she suffered repeated nocturnal interference which in the morning, it was found, was a cluster of mole excavations under the groundsheet. There was quite a barney! John got the blame and she stormed off, and later that season, I heard that he had moved to Cornwall and taken "In the Red" (but not Sandra) with him. If you can trace it now, good luck to you!

Great story! Have now got John Palser's contact details, just a question of catching him at home. Have also heard that he was still sailing the boat in St Ives harbour 15 years ago... Will try to find out if the camping incident scarred him for life!
