Roger, it helps that the two ladies you co-habit with also share your passion for Moths, I think!
I had enough of a struggle just getting Nikki to let me bring my sails into the house and park my trailers on the front lawn. I suspect that if I suggested she let me bring my Moth in, I'd find myself sleeping on the front lawn with said trailers in very short order!

Roger,
Our flat is just about big enough for the three people living here without a moth as well! I am varnishing outside and have been fortunate with the weather (no Arizona I'm afraid!).................. so far! Third coat is now on and will be left now until Sunday afternoon when the fourth and penultimate coat is applied! I am using International Goldspar as you suggested and so far so good.
Will keep the post updated in due course and will add pictures when all is finished!

With regards varnishing foils- does anyone know of any major do's and don't's?
Which varnishes are reccomended, as I note that Goldspar that I used on the decks, says not to be used below the waterline?

Epoxy sealed is best two pack is fantastic Goldspar is fine unless you plan on leaving the boat moored up for long periods.
Most important whatever you choose to use is to touch up any damage asap.

Thanks.
For the epoxy sealed option, what is the method? Is it just sand down and go for it?
Also what type of epoxy?
Probably sound like silly questions but when it comes to this sort of stuff I haven't a clue!!!

You really need to go to a good chandlers and get some good advice, SP Systems is perhaps the best known and most widely used products. Initially the instructions may sound daunting but armed with a roller, getting the mixture right, warm conditions and good equipment to flat down make the overall job easy apart from a little elbow grease. ( You will need to sand back well to get a smooth finish as epoxy does tend to sag, slip and generally dries with an orange peel finish unless held in place by tape). Epoxy systems are great, if expensive but first speed to acheive a very good finish I would stick with the Goldspar. You can apply lots of coats quickly and when fully hardened can rub back down to a very acceptable finish for foils, which is easy to touch-up. Roger

Cheers roger.
I think I will stick with the Goldspar. I was just a bit concerned about the "do not use below the waterline..." but it won't be moored for longer than an hour bewtween races at most!
Thanks again
