NOTICE OF RACE
This Notice applies to the following event:
Desborough Sailing Club British Moth Open Regatta on Saturday 7th September 2013
Organising Authority:
Desborough Sailing Club, Shepperton, Middx, TW17 9LG, England.
1 RULES
1.1 Races will be governed by the ‘Rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2013 except as they are changed by the DSC sailing instructions, class rules, the prescriptions of the RYA and this Notice of Race.
1.2 The Desborough Sailing Club Open Meeting Instructions will apply.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The event will be open to all British Moths
There will be an entry fee of £5 – Lunch included. Refreshments will be available.
3 SCHEDULE
3.1 Desborough SC will be open from 9.00 hrs
3.2 Race briefing will be at 10.30 hrs
3.3 The first race will start no earlier than 11am.
4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Desborough Sailing Club Standard Open Meeting Sailing Instructions are available in
the Clubhouse and on the web site www.desboroughsc.org. Amendments to the Standard
Sailing Instructions will be available on the Club Notice Board on the day of the event.
5 VENUE
The venue is Desborough Sailing Club, Shepperton, Middx. TW17 9LG
6 THE COURSES
Course(s) to be sailed will be displayed on the day
7 SCORING
7.1 There will be 3 races with 2 to count, the first race will start no earlier than 11am.
7.2 Races are scheduled of which 2 constitute a series. If 3 races are sailed 2 will count towards the result. If only 2 races are sailed then both races will count towards the result.
7.3 The race starting sequence shall be as defined in the sailing instruction.
7.4 The average lap system may be used to ensure slower boats are not on the water too long.
7.5 The low point scoring system will apply as set out in RRS A4.
8 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to
Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or
personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the
regatta.
9 SAFETY
9.1 A boat is entirely responsible for its own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing,
whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this
responsibility.
9.2 It is for the boat to decide whether it is fit to sail in the conditions in which it will find
itself. By launching, the boat confirms that it is fit for those conditions and that its crew
is competent to sail and compete in them.
9.3 Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make
the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may
have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the race. The organisers encompass
everyone helping to run the race and the event, and including, inter alia, the Organising
Authority, the Race Committee, the Race Officer, patrol boat crews and beachmasters.
9.4 The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of its responsibilities.
10 INSURANCE & LICENCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
minimum cover of £2,000,000 or the equivalent.
