Ok, let's see if I can actually post this ......
Whitefriars/Rupert have agreed to let us have a barbecue on Saturday 1 June after sailing has finished. You may remember I suggested this in Chrysalis as a way of discussing informally and a head of the Annual General Meeting such topics as proposed rule changes, committee posts, Chrysalis and the dinghy show.
I am willing to organise the catering, ie sausages, abby-burgers, salad, fruit crumble or similar - with drinks from the Whitefriars bar. Cost £5 a head from which I will take costs and then put the rest behind the bar at the Nationals.
Please can you 'sign up' here so I can gauge quantities and also suggest topics for discussion. Of course if you think this is a bad idea, please say that too. Thanks Abby

This sounds like a good idea to me, though anything involving a BBQ does! I am planning on going to the open but may have to come home Saturday evening to look after the kids. Babysitters allowing, I will come and stay for the BBQ though. I will confirm nearer the time.
It sounds like we will have a few topics we can discuss already (dinghy show, sail advertising etc).
I can certainly recommend the club to anyone who hasn't been before. Hopefully we will have a good turnout and enjoyable weekend. Look forward to seeing you all there - if not before!
Chris

The camping field is fine, currently - so unless we get weather like last year, camping should be fine. If it rains solidly, it might be under water...

Discussion Topics for the Informal Get Together are:-
1. Proposed amendment to Rule 8 re floating rudders. 2. Proposed rule regarding advertising on boats/sails at BMBA Open meetings/Nationals. 3. The Dinghy show for 2014 and beyond. 4. Venue for Nationals 2014 (NSC?) and 2015 (Western Venue - Chew ?) 5. The RYA Charter Rule 69.1 and 69.2 which is an obligation not to Commit Gross Misconduct and penalties/sanctions the committee of the BMBA can impose for infringements. 6. Rule to ban the use of GPS equipment and aids in racing - limit to compass only.
BBQ is on - please continue to register your interest.
Thanks Abby

Whitefriars is always a "must do" event whatever the Class/Regatta... If Hurricane conditions had not cancelled the Moth Training Event in March Framptonites would have been there twice already ....Great Club,Great Pond, and Very Friendly Moth Folk....despite not having any Moths in the Club ! I will be there . Abby ...pre-order for 2 x Abby Burgers.
There will be a Frampton contingent but will leave it to Chris Latham to confirm, but ,apart from myself there will be... Ian Haywood Tony Latham Chris Latham [ if the paint and varnish is dry in time] Ian Haywood [ one day I think] and we will work on Nicola Barratt and new Frampton Fleet member Anne Widdows.

Committee Could someone from the committee confirm for everyone if this is one Open over Two days or Two Opens which is what I understood it was going to be. We have several people wishing to come for one day and I would hate them to be put off thinking they will not get enough races in to qualify. Rupert has kindly posted the notice of race which shows the Two days as one Open. New Boy

Sorry I didn't notice it earlier.... It should be two separate events over two days, and the results from one day only will count for Somerville purposes - Sorry Rupert I will sort out results/prizes with you. I have been given the Gyro Trophy byTim Davison. He says he won it at Whitefriars, but it is really a Medley cup, so that also needs sorting. I thought there was a second cup (WEstern?) can someone remind me? Abby the not very clued up fixtures person
Any vegetarians staying for Saturday night? Pls let me know!

Hi Abby. Thanks for confirming that for me. I did think it would be the best three results from the Two days to count for the series. As I wrote the qualifying rules that was what I meant. The qualifying rule 2 says *No more than Three results from any one venue" meaning if there are Two opens or more than Three races at any one venue only the best Three results to count. Sorry. Just thought best to make sure the scoring is clear before the races start. Of course it is down to the committee to decide what they want to happen. New Boy
