All seems quiet re this upcoming Open.... It would be great even at this late stage for the "maybe boys and girls " to head for Medders this weekend. Weather looks great for Saturday with the on-set of Autumn possibly affecting Sunday a tad. Medley supported this years Nationals in fine style [ 9 boats ] hows about a session or two on the beautiful Thames...dodging other Moths, the odd cruiser here and there and wading Cows. A very freindly and welcoming bunch. Believe some Western based Helms will be there, plenty of room for more....

Confession time - I'm not going to make it although I'd planned to. Have to cite major work upheaval which coincided with my weeks hols, from which I've just returned. Plus I couldn't qualify as I have an OOD duty Sunday and would have only made Saturday anyway.
Hope you all enjoy yourselves, but not too much 'cos If you do I'll be sick as a parrot.
TONY
ps I did buy a 2013 calendar whilst away to put next years dates down. Should know FOSSC by next w/end.

Gary and I are already here, tucked up safely in Abingdon so a leisurely start to Saturday morning. Tim Lupton and Ted Deacon are also coming from the eastern fleet - we can't remember what Colin and Elaine said but we feel East Anglia will be well represented!

There were 22 boats on the start line today. Three good races, some flukey winds, some shallow ground, and the start to the third race was hilarious for the watchers - big gust, boats planing at each other, Gary took avoiding action and ended up planing away from the line, Simon ended up capsized on the bank....Tim D and Toby were sharing line honours - but I was safely in the middle of the fleet so you will have to wait for the official scores.

BREAKING NEWS: You can now walk to France!
Yesterday, the entirety of the water in the English Channel was deposited over Oxford, the A34 and the M42. People are flocking to the coast to see what the Channel Tunnel looks like from the out-side and P&O are now operating the cross-channel ferries from London to Birmingham.
In other news, thanks to all those involved in running the Medley open, I certainly had a good time (if a little soggy).
I have some pictures of the final race on Saturday, find me on Facebook - they should be up by Tuesday.

To all those of us who ventured out this weekend would have enjoyed the 23 boat starts on The Thames. My positioning on the start line deteriorated drastically especially after a coming to with a home boat on the final start line.
There will be photos available shortly, and I have a few already especially of the last days racing. (beached after damaging the centre-board in the aforementioned coming to!).
Tim Davidson has drawn the short straw for the reports and I will be sending the race by race results to Paul.
Many thanks to Medley for organizing once again

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone at Medley for the copious quantities of food, hospitatility, good humour, wind and of course rain :-)
Great to see 20 plus boats on the water .... really made the river start lines quite an event !
Well done Tim for a great performance - especially in the last race.... best race I've been in for a quite some time :-)
Oh and grate write up also.
