At the last AGM I offered to contact Carsington SC with regard to using this venue for next years Nationals. This I did but after numerous phone calls no-one has had the courtesy of coming back to me on this subject. Their sailing secretary promised on no less than 2 occasions to ring me back but has not done so. This leaves me with the impression that they don't want us or they are not the friendly club that I had assumed. I feel particularly disappointed with their lack of response & will not be taking this any further. Sorry that I have not been able to come up with a venue for the committee to consider.

Has anyone thought of asking Broxbourne SC to host 2012 Nationals, it would be great to have 80 th at a club where Tommy is still racing his moth at 85 ( sorry if I have got this wrong Tom ) You might get bigger turnout on a smaller water than Northampton? No disrespect to Northampton it is a great club, but I understand some BM sailors prefer the smaller water. Just a thought!

How about he original home of the Moth. The Welsh Harp (aka Wembley Sailing Club).
Wherever we go next year I believe it is important to have on site camping as that is now part of the fun and atmosphere of the Moth Nationals.

I am happy for the Nationals to be held just about anywhere However I do agree with Simon in that on site camping is essential as the apres sail is hugely important!

Am not sure Broxbourne could host a large number of campers .... I could check. I heard some talk of Weymouth when I visited Northampton and would urge caution in considering a sea venue. Regardless of how sheltered etc.... We found when we went to Parkstone in whatever year it was (Robbie can check which on the Brent cup)..... We found that it cost us at least 15 entries... People just didn't want to accept the challenge of sea sailing. Despite it being a windy week we averaged less than two retirements per race which was outstanding and testament to the fact that sailing on the sea was manageable in the moth.
Agree with the thoughts about camping .... Makes the moth feel like a very special community.
Anyhow.... Just my views. I know how tough it used to be to find an open venue let alone chose one, so I wish the committee the best of luck.

Do we know where and when the Nationals 2012 are going to be held? I have to put in my leave bid for next year by the end of the month.

Sent my entry straight off, together with the measurement certificate.
I assume the boats are going to be weighed again this year is it worth starting the process on the Tuesday evening to get some of the early arrivals out of the way?
By the way everyone needs to ready the Sailing instructions particularly rule 18.4.
