Stand to attention its your current National Chump here ...as ever trying to drum up support and above all participation. Great Festival of Moth Sailing on the largest stretch of water we visit. Great racing for all with good socialising too at the superbly equipped Northampton Club. Hard to find a better venue and especially one that is quite central to us all.
We need your Entries in as very soon as possible. 5 weeks to go... All ready are we ? ....If not why not ? Entry Forms are on this Forum and the NOR/SI,s on Northampton S.C,s web-site. In addition further details should also be in the soon to be posted Chrysalis.
Looking forward to seeing you there .... Roger Witts FRAMPTON MOTHS

I promise Roger!! ;D Need to collect my boat as well so I can come and have a practice at Hunts in a few weeks.. Looking forward to the Nationals, as an ex champ I will also add to Rogers promise of buying any newcomer at their first nationals a beer but will also extend it out to anyone who hasn't sailed at the BM nationals since 2007. We have six entries to date. Your committee decided to include polo shirts again this year. So that we are able to order the correct number and sizes it would be helpful to me if you could advise if you will be at the Nationals this year and the size of shirt required. You can always send your entry form and money at a later date. In past years I have had to guess who will be attending and size of shirt with the inevitable disappointment for some. Please reply to me on froswick@talktalk.net as I wish to order the shirts next week Thanks for your help and look forward to seeing you at Northampton Ian E Ladies you will be pleased to know ladies cut and sizes are available.

With a high-jacked tow, a borrowed combi (fingers crossed), a stand-in centreboard, and some gaffer tape BM351 plans her return to the Nationals (check and form in the post today)! Lets hope 351 remembers her way round 'cos I'm going to need all the help I can get as an open meeting (let alone Nationals) first timer! Should be there Wednesday eve, and I'm planning to camp the 3 nights if thats ok - who should I contact to reserve a pitch etc? Looking forward to the open water... (another) Toby

Toby just turn up and grab a spot on the left when inside the Club Gates. There is a coded keypad entry but just buzz and the Gates will be opened for you.
First timers at the Nationals are especially welcomed .. and I am sure you will get help and advice if you need it.We have some seasoned Geezers there who will be only too eager to help....Pappa Pope,Commander Davison and Superchamp Rob Wilder to name a few. These hombres can usually be found in the Bar area ...! I am absolutely confident you will enjoy the experience. Roger Witts Frampton Moths

Toby I'm sure you will be fine, any questions and plenty of people around to ask, British Moth sailors are a friendly bunch .. Look at it this way you've got yourself at least two free pints ;D as both Roger and myself offered to buy anyone a drink who is entering the nationals for the first time..

Thanks Rob and Roger for the encouragement, I look forward to feeling I deserve those welcome pints! I've just been reading through the sailing instructions and race info: Measurement cert - ok Insurance - ok BMBA membership - ok Valid bouyancy certificate - Ermmmm? I'm sure 351 is fine, but currently she has no paperwork. How do I go about getting a bouyancy certificate? Is this something that I can do when I arrive on Wednesday afternoon/eve (sadly having missed the first days sailing)? Looking forward to that Wednesday! Toby

OK, self certified bouyancy testing coming up! Looks like I'll have to be the "weight" - time to get wet I guess...and get someone else to take some snaps for evidence. Thanks for the info, Toby

Toby
If you are looking to camp the Notice of Race asks you to email or ring the office at Northampton to book your camping.
Dont forget your free pints from Roger etc, but I did state that I would buy the oldest Moth (not Moth sailor!) a pint as well on Wednesday Night. Better book that camping space ;-)

We now have 20 entries, however their are still some notable names missing from the entry list. I will be ordering the championship shirts next week so this is your last chance to ensure you have a shirt that fits, let me know you will be entering and your shirt size even if you will not be sending me your entry form and cheque until after pay day! Ladies remember ladies fit are available this year E mail me on froswick@talktalk.net Lets be hearing from you Ian E

Hopefully I should be putting my entry in the post tomorrow (ahem ... large shirt please).
I'm reluctantly taking the plunge and camping, 16 years in the Army tells me it isn't a good thing but I'd like to be on site.
Do we still get catered for? Is the bar open etc?
So there should be someone else to beat anyway :-)
Cheers Paul

doesn'tg barely sailed in the last couple of years I am planning on clearing the cobwebs from my moth and getting back to sailing.
The nationals seems an ideal opportunity to try and get back into the swing of things. It will also be a good chance to meet some more people in the class and it is also noted is the offer of a free pint for attending my first nationals - thanks Roger!
The problem is that with relatively short amount of time would there be anyway of getting around the following problems?
- I am not a member of the BMBA - if i send off for membership now will that be too late? - My sail number doesnt match my hull number - will this be an issue? - Is it too late to organise a pitch for camping?
Any help or advice would be gratefully received!
