The long awaited BRITISH MOTH Boat Test will be scheduled from October 1st on the first suitable day. Frampton-on-Severn S.C. will be the venue, with Frampton Moths providing/arranging the Boats, Testers, Rescue and Photographers' Boats and support on the day. Current racing boat options have been selected/suggested viz.... - All wood construction ..Godfrey Clark....871 Scruff
- BMBA FRP/composite ...Severn Sailboats/Graham Pope..853 Ghost
- All GRP..........................Brian Skinner.....861 Mog
- Re-built Vintage ...........Ian Howlett ......238 Juniper
This opportunity, so soon after the excellent 75th Anniversary Nationals Report in Y&Y last year, and the article in Dinghy magazine last month will give the Class valuable exposure. We do not know yet when the Test will be published but will obviously pass it on as soon as we do.

Amazingly lucky with the weather[almost wall-to-wall sunshine and good winds] for the Test Day at Totally Tropical Frampton. Special thanks to Jeremy Evans from Y&Y for making the long trip up from the South Coast,to the Commodore and Committee of Frampton-on-Severn S.C.for granting permission and to "Severn Sailboats" for sponsoring the Test Day. Also a huge big thanks to the Frampton Moths for the support before and on the day. Test Dummies - Andrew Parker-Mowbray,Graham Pope and Bill Gribble. On water support - Tony Latham,Mark Wiltshire and Jeremy Higson. In the Galley and on Rescue Boat - Laura Honey Moral Support and loan of boats - Steve Kendall,Dave Badminton,Ian Haywood and Debbie Powell. It seems more than likely that the article may appear in the next edition of Y&Y.

I sent a form off to Y Y a couple of weeks ago - what I got from the James address was an offer for paid advertising, which since the Treasurer was away, I had not responded to.

Saw the article today in WH Smiths. Nice photos. I didn't read it in any great detail, the photo of Nearly New Boy gurning over his shoulder put me off!

Not my best side for a photo so can see your point. Great article that has already brought interest to our Quirky boat. I think that the British Moth is really moving forward now. The carbon masts are in and I believe Painted Lady will not be the only Moth on the water sporting one next year! New sexy looking sails are starting to appear at Frampton and I am sure that others will follow with new sail development being pursued by Roger. With close racing all through the fleet and many varied locations to sail and compete how could the class not grow even stronger than it is! Having said all that the main reason for me staying with the British Moth fleet is because of the great people I have met on my travels with Painted Lady. Fun, Friendly and mostly a little mad. Thank you all for making my 1st full year with you so much fun!! New Boy
