Gavin - would be great to see you at the Nationals ... you need 5 results to count form 7 races, there is 1 points race Wednesday, 3 Thursday, 2 Friday and 1 Saturday ... So Thursday PM thru Saturday would be required to have 5 results.
An all black mast is not the original ... sounds like a Sovereign (famously bendy masts in their own right). How much do you weigh ?
Provided the centre plate case bond to the f/glass hull is sound, it shouldn't leak. For slot gasket you are going to need Sikaflex glue. If you don't fancy tackling yourself, John Claridge has turned fitting these alsmost into an art form. Maybe give him a call.
As for control lines .. you may need some guidance from an experienced Mothist ... where abouts are you based ? It's hard to tell from the FB page what's beend one with the control lines since I had her ...but I can explain how the yellow line which goes throught the bulls eyes on the thwart works - it's a friction based system for raising and lowering the centre plate ... without the need to move forward and grab the centre plat itself .. I still us the same system today ... although improved on it slightly by using Excel Control line which can be spliced to be completely continuous. I just posted a picture of the control line layout of my current boat and you can see the light blue & white line ... zoom in on the picture and you can see how it runs.

Thanks so much for the photograph, I can now see how the centreboard control lines work - that puzzle was driving me mad - I could see how it lowered the board, but not how it raised it again, but now it's all clear.
I don't think I can do the Nationals - I absolutely have to be at work all day on the Thursday. Great shame, but I suppose there is always next year.
I've got a slot gasket kit on route to me today hopefully, and spent a happy hour or two yestreday scraping off the old glue, but I have some work to do in the centreboard bolt area first. There is some damage to the inside of the case in the bolt-hole area. I think I'm going to put her on her port-side and use epoxy with microfibres to fill in the damaged area before re-drilling the hole carefully.
The plate case bond to the hull looks in good shape - certainly dry and no evidence of rot. I've painted on a very thin film of epoxy over the joint which I hope will keep things dry. I have nightmares that the plate case will self-destruct at the joints when loaded up...but everything looks fine.
I've now shaped the replacement board to fit. It pivots and fully lowers / retracts. It's had four coats of varnish and looks OK. I think it will be fine to get the boat onto the water. It bothers me a lot though that it's not exactly the correct shape / design, and I'm doing my best to locate a correct replacement. Failing that, I guess I will have to get one made at the end of the year.
Shame that the mast isn't original. It looks really good though, and I'm pretty light at about 10.5 stone, so hopefully it will work well.
I am hoping to get her back onto the water sometime the week after next barring any disasters. I'm based in St Albans but sail at BLYM, a club in Rickmansworth.

Sounds like you're taking the right action with the centre plate case .. epoxy with mf probably best route ... although rubbing it smooth with a batten can be an arse of a job. At 10.5 stone you'e going to need a "whippy" rig ... so the Sovereign could be just right. You are probably going to need to rig lower on it though.
For a replacement plate, it could be worth seeing if JC has any of his fibreglass ones available ... I've got a spare we can try in the boat for size. St Albans isn't too far away from me ... so I could pop over to give advice etc.
Shame about the Nationals. We've got the Moth open at Broxbourne this weekend .. not too far from you, might be worth popping along to look at control line setup etc ?

Many thanks to Toby, Simon and others for talking me through their rig set up at Broxbourne today with such patience. Much appreciated. The journey of BM799 continues, but slowly; she's now inverted in the garage as I have a good look at the centreboard case bolt holes and set to work scraping the last of the old slot gasket glue off the hull. No luck in finding a second hand centreboard yet - my home-made version might have to do for now. Duty calls in other areas of my life during the week ahead, but I'm hoping to get her back on the water during the week after with a bit of (lot of) luck.
