Does anyone know the dates of next years Nationals? I have to fill in my "leave bid" form for next year and it has to be returned in a few days!
Thanks.
Richard.

I'm in a similar boat (sorry) to Richard at work as several of us scramble for the same school holiday slots.
Rather than having several of us pester Graham individually, if the date is known now is there any chance of it being posted early before the rest of the 2011 programme is revealed?
Thanks,
Paul

Verbally agreed with Ian Castle in August that we would be there, as always, second week in August i.e. 9 - 13 August 2010 - Camping on the 9th, Practice race on the 10th and away we go. will get it in writing shortly. Abby

Hear Ye Hear Ye! The Entry Form will be in the next issue of Chrysalis that will be out early July. Hopefully it will also get on to Northampton website shortly too. PLEASE enter as soon as you can. Prices for the sailing are held to last years (no Day entry this year, although if you can only come for one day, talk to me). Prices for the Championship Dinner on Friday night are £11.00 for adults, and £8.00 for juniors. Sadly no band this year
We have kept the 3rd race on Thursday which was roundly approved of and this year it will be sailed for the first time for the Obelisk Trophy which has been donated by Colin and Elaine - it's beautiful.
Of less beauty but I hope of interest will be my own offering. There is a lot of very good, close and competitve sailing that happens in the middle of the fleet, which largely goes unrecognised. To that end I offering 'The Bit in the Middle' to be awarded to the helm who finishes in the middle of the fleet overhall on points - but to qualify the winner cannot have won any other trophy (Veterans, Ladies, Junior, Oldest Boat, Teddy Hicks etc) - with bottles of wine to the helm one above and one below the Middle. Mad, I know but I hope fun!
It appears that the polo shirts were missed last year, so I am looking in to getting them back for this year.
Please be aware that we will be weighing boats this year - there are a couple that we know about that have been modified, so we will take advantage of the necessity of weighing them to be checking others.
Remember, Hunts is the last Open Water chance to get your boat tuned up - see you there!

With about 2 months left as 2010 National Champion I would not be doing my bit If I did not try to encourage all to come to this years Nationals. Look at it as a warm-up for the next years Nationals and 80th Anniversary ! The Nationals has long been a Rally as well as a Festival of Racing for that No 1 position. Probably more than ever before older Boats are being encouraged and this year they will heve their have their own prizes but still be part of the main event. August 10-13th is THE Nationals and is not just about the fastest helms in the fleet it is also importantly about the racing at all levels within the Fleet, meeting up again with far flung friends, talking all things Moths and socialising.Northampton is an ideal venue for our Nationals. Superb camping facilities backed up with the Clubs great clubhouse changing rooms, showers etc and a Galley that is second to none.We are always genuinely welcomed at Northampton. ...As for the racing at the front end the 2011 Nationals will definitely be hotly contested. Very close racing is assured especially in the top 10.. Of the runnners and riders that will do well please allow me "Champion,s priveledge" to elaborate a little.... John Claridge - John does not need any introductions ,he has a New Boat and is already going very fast and knows his way around Northampton too well ! Mark Wiltshire - 3rd in 2010.Very Fast in strong winds and drifters. If he doesn,t break anything he will figure well ! Toby Cooper - "Come-back Kid"..Toby needs no introductions of course, but probably a new rig on brother Andrews boat will I am sure render him competitive. Rob Wilder - He has never really gone away but Rob should be there and as determined as ever. Colin Hall - The new Aardvark Carbon stick and new P&B Sail will be fully sorted by August without any doubt and cheery Colin will be in the hunt. Tim Davison - Ultra keen Tim will be always in contention.Prone to falling out of late but always capable of doing a Jensen Button "last to first dash " any time ! Tim Lupton - National Junior Champon for the last 3 years or so.Tim is now much quicker and is flying. Graham Pope - Always competitive and ready to pounce. A new Severn Carbon Rig and Aeroweb Speed sail is working well. Andrew Perrott - Never give-up Andrew is always a threat and is now powered by a "new" North sail on an Aardvark carbon boom.He always goes well at Northampton
Lastly I will aim to do my best but it will be tough, very tough.
The form book can be and very probably will be upset by a host of others..especially if we have lighter breezes .. To name a few Ian Edwards,Gary Tomkins,Ian Haywood,Tony Latham,Richard Keefe,Tina Hardyment,Abby Freeley...the list goes on.
So all that is left is to ask you is to get your Entry in early[it does help with the arrangements] and we look forward to seeing you at Northampton. It would be great if we could see more of the Moth Fleets at Medley.Staines and Desborough joining us so how about it chaps. Here is the deal...for anyone attending and racing at their 1st Nationals the first drink is on me !...see you in the Bar !!! Applications from previous attendees will not be accepted !!!!

Hi all, I look foreword to seeing and meeting more of the friendly moth gang at this years nationals. 786 is going well and should be sporting some new paint and varnish by the nationals. I was very dissapointed I could not attend Chippenham or Whitefriers, but will be sure to pay a visit to Frampton some time in the near future.
Looking foreword to the nationals (and that free beer off Roger-They always taste the best!)
Cheers all, Jon Cooper

I will be posting Joe's entry for the Nationals this week. We would like to camp , is that possible? If not, if others are camping is there a preferred campsite local to the club?

I've just sent my entry off for the Nationals.
For all the older boats that are thinking "Is it worth it?" the answer is YES. Just to make it more interesting I will by the helm of the oldest boat competing a drink on Wednesday Night. Please don't let it be me be the recipient of that drink!
The oldest boat entry so far is Bertie No 708

Roger - sadly there is no chance of me having 754 in a fit condition for the 2011 Nationals. I am currently aiming to have it sorted for 2012. I had a look round it a week or so ago and it needs some major varnishing work, new rig, sail, centre plate case re-enforcement, converison to centre main, cenetre plate gaskett, rear mainsheet bridge removal, new control lines all round, new trailer, cover..... so basically lot's to do & buy..... but the good news is that in structural terms, it's in better nick than Wein :-)
