first race of a new personal handicap pursuit series.
only moth out was pete, elaine was on duty. the only problem for pete was he did very well in the last series. because of this, pete was the last away!!!! after lasers, streakers, comets and me in the supersofa.
pete sailed really well, but had no chance of getting to the front of the fleet. at least his handicap will be better next week. he might even start before me!!!!!

good turn out today, 14 boats on the water(two moths, elaine and pete). elaine contested the lead for alot of the race with two enterprises. one of the ents got away to take the win, but elaine managed to retake the second one to take second place. she was a little pleased ! one other little piece of M.W.Y.C. moth news. today i have become the new owner of moth 849!!!!!

I have got a very favourable personally handicap which helped today, but also overtook some fast boats when the wind dropped.
Really pleased to have bought 849 from Sue but not sure how I feel about having matching boats (& consecutive numbers)!

hi roger,
thanks for the kind words, but i think you have got one word slightly muddled up.
'front' needs to be replaced by 'back'.
cheers duncan.

I think we'll stick with the Lightning for Sam, it's much more durable & she does like the concrete banks!

good moth day today (very little wind!). both elaine and pete out sailing today. elaine sailed really well and took a good win ;D. pete was also going well, but lost second place to a rooster with seconds to go to the end of the race. i spent the race on the bank, changing the controls and playing with the rigging of 849! hope to do my first race in the moth next week!

Took the Moth out to day but the wind picked up instead of dropping (as per forecast) & after 1 lap (7 marks & 5 Gybes) & a cockpit full of water I decided to call it a day.
Duncan sensibly decided to stay on the bank.

Sitting on the Albatros with a drink watching Father Christmas arrive from the North Pole by boat was definitely a good choice then.....

Lucky you, wasn't it a bit cold on the 'Albatross' & did they have any flooding in Wells? I hear there was a storm surge in parts of Norfolk.
Sounds like it might be a bit windy for the Moth again on Sunday.
BTW John C was race officer!

Yes the drinks were somewhat chilled on the "Albatros" but the firework display over the water was excellent. Surge tide hit on Sunday evening when we were back home. 3 moths out today. elaine, pete and me. elaine finish the best of us, but that was mid fleet. it was just too windy for us to do well today. worried elaine and led pete for the first half of the race but dropped back in the second half. it was my first race in the moth and had a great time!
