I am the least qualified of all to comment other than to say that the bow curve has been endlessly discussed, the measurements and lines poured over and considered.
We do and will continue to keep the measurements in check, we can and do keep the bow curve in check. We are as a committee and a class doing our very best to keep the boats competitive and the Class a living breathing thing both on and off the water. Having watched on Saturday as my borrowed Skinner Moth (Lappet 783) being sailed by a very good, very competitive helm who had never been in one before yet was in the top 3 (with Roger Witt (Skinner) and Tim Davison (Clarke) it seems to me it has a lot more to do with the helm than hull. Lappet is the second boat Brian Skinner built and although the hull had just been painted, she currently features a very old Needlespar and an old sail - so the speed was down to the helm, not the rig and not alot of money has been spent because like alot of us I don't have it to spend. I only wish I could make it go as fast as Mike did but even so I have an enormous amount of fun in the boat. BTW I believe the BMBA hull has come second in the Nationals but never won.
