I have had the following from Peter Ray:
I am hoping that you may be able to help with finding a home for Bluebird. We bought Bluebird for our son Matthew when he was around 15, some 25 plus years ago, the previous owner was David Van Edwards and before him, (we have been told) was John Shilling. Mathew had the pleasure of sailing her at the Cam Sailing Club for a number of years, but "Life, The Universe and Everything" intervened and opportunities for sailing reduced greatly. We have stored Bluebird carefully at the Cam Sailing Club, and over the last year or three have refurbished her (finishing touches to complete).
As Matthew is still time poor for regular sailing, and the maintenance of a wooden boat is a heavy demand on our joint time we are seeking a secure haven for the boat. We have approached a couple of Museums, but without success so far. Can you, or others in the Association, help us in that endeavor please? Thank you for taking the time to read this mail, and I hope that you can give me and son Matthew a steer or two to a secure haven for Bluebird. It is a boat with some history and provenance; we do not want her to deteriorate or be destroyed. We have compiled some history, as related to us, and have some photographs, and (we think) original drawings.
If anyone can help Ray out please contact me in the first instance and I will forward your interest.
Thanks, Colin
