Just to let the membership know, I am trying to persuade our club Chelmarsh SC to offer to host the nationals in 2018, and i have been told that sufficient volunteers to run the races have come forward, and it is looking likely that the club would be very pleased to welcome the Moth fleet. I have had requests from club members to borrow a boat if it does happen.
The proposed dates, will be second week of August, which I understand is the normal dates for the Nationals. Several Moth sailors have now visited the club, and all are agreed it is a good location for the BM nationals.
The club has excellent facilities, and there are pubs and restaurants nearby, and Bridgnorth is 15 minutes away, with many Indian Restaurants, including probably the best in Shropshire, the Eurasia, (my favourite).

Hi all,
The committee are currently in discussions about the venue for nationals 2018. I am working on the programme for events next year but as yet, no venue or date is confirmed. Once final dates and venues are arranged, I will of course be letting BMBA members know via the forum, facebook and email.
Best wishes,
Jenny

Sorry for the delay in finalising the dates for the nationals at Chelmarsh S.C., but we hit an unexpected hitch in getting permission from the water board for camping on site. Permission had never been refused before, but a new manager wanted us to use an established camp site approx 1 mile away. We explained the need for camping on site, and we have now received an indication that permission is granted. It takes a surprisingly long time for these institutions to reply.
The club are looking forward to hosting the Moth Nationals, and our vice commodore, Alison Taylor, has asked to borrow a moth for the event. (She is a competent laser sailor).
On October 14th., we have an RS Aero open with 47 entries......we are hoping for 30+ entries for the BM nationals. There is an RNLI 5 hour endurance race at Chelmarsh on October 22nd., anyone like to make up a team?

Dates for next year's nationals at Chelmarsh are 8th to 11th., August....Access to Chelmarsh reservoir is on the west side of the river. So take care if you have not been before, the sat nav may take you to the East side.

With the Nationals looming upon us the Notice of Race and Entry Form are available on the website. www.britishmoth.co.uk/nationals-2018/Chelmarsh SC is anew venue to us for the Nationals and there are a number of Moths now at the club. Please check your measurement certificates are up to date and valid prior to the event as no replacement certificates will be available at the event. Replacements can be applied for prior to the event from Secretary@britishmoth.co.uk But please ensure you leave enough time for them to be posted to you. Simon

If I remember rightly the original 'slim sail', which has been much replicated was designed and commissioned by Laura Honey who used it on Tabitha Twitchit (700), it is a marvellously well balanced powerful sail without the top heaviness of a standard cut. Makes sailing a moth a pleasure ideal for lighter sailors and in strong or gusty conditions, race competitive and a vast improvement on the mini moth sail.
