Details are being finalised, but it looks like the BMBA have been invited to the coast by a very friendly Cornish Club, that can offer;
Sheltered Sailing on Salty Water, Very Scenic Historic Harbour Town, Waterside Camping with Boat Launching, Support from Freindly Club, Possible Crewing Oppportunity for Race in Local Class, Support From Local Chandler, All Moth Sailors Welcome, Format Will be Very Relaxed.
Just need to book appropriate Moth weather
Watch this space for more details. |

Quote:Neap tides are predicted for the weekend (apparently this is good for us puddle and ditch sailors).
- High tide around about lunchtime, - Good for sailing during the day, - But, sadly this means not enough water for evening trip to riverside pubs, - Don't panic not so new boy, there are plenty of good bars in the town as well as a very welcoming clubhouse, I've got a special bar in mind for you, just at the harbour mouth. - It will be a very realxed programme, plenty of opportunity to cruise round the harbour, savour the local hospitality, a few short races, or whatever, - Non sailors can sample some local retail therapy and a visit to the nearby jungle. |

Quote:As of this weekend the dates for the Pasty Trip have been confirmed.
28 and 29 June - though several Moths are likely to make the migration south a day or so sooner.
Our hosts for the weekend will be the Fowey Gallants Sailing Club. The Gallants are a small friendly club who are very keen to give us a warm Cornish welcome and help make a memorable visit for us all.
Camping is nearby and can possibly include launching, but is on 'wrong' side of the river- though there might be space for the boats to be stored and launched at the club. all depends on numbers.
Remember, Fowey is pronounced 'Foy'.
There is a rumour that a local Moth might be encouraged to come and join in with the fun.
Jungle referred to is of course the Eden Project.

Quote:Already, six Moths have confirmed they are spreading their wings and are accepting the invitation to visit sunny Fowey.
Details of on water activities will depend on the weather (which has now been booked) as well as bar opening times. But, will be very relaxed, including exploring around the harbour and short races. Unless the conditions are perfect it is very unlikely that we will leave the sheltered waters of the harbour.
Fowey is one of the best places to learn about sailing on water that goes up and down as well as in and out - in a safe environment. For those of a nervous dispostition we will have full rescue facilities available whenever we are playing out on the water.
Off water activities will also be very relaxed but are likely to include a pleasant mix of good food (not just pasties) and quantities of alchohol.
Sound good ? |

Quote:REMEMBER Weekend 28th - 29th June - SALTY WEEKEND
People arriving from Wed - most people camping.
The good folk of Fowey are looking forward to our visit and are making every effort to make our stay as great as possible.
Local brewery have been monitoring this site to determine future production levels.

Looks like the one Bill ..... Andrew P-M will confirm[have sent him a message] As for Passports in Cornwall don,t think they will be required....just tell them you are from Frampton and look dumb they usually wave you through !
Hope we are going to get 6 of our own Moths salt-encrusted... Andrew and James P-M Laura and Myself[Tabby and ONONO...Scruff resting!] New Boy ... move all your moored boats and pad your jetty,s Fowey he,s coming ! "Wild Bill" Gribble. We also hope to see Roger Gribble in the Mirror which will get the status of "Almost Moth" for the trip .
Understand various other floating devices will be heading down to Fowey too ranging from Kayaks to Inflatables. Pasty eating competition Friday Night. Prize for the most Parking and Speeding infringements. Junior "Least Whining" competition all- weekend. Nude Midnight Eastuary Dash Race has had to be cancelled due to H&S issues. Who can resist heading West next week....

Camping is at Penmarlam Park - use link in Bill's message above, booking online is cheaper than by phone. Launching can be arranged on arrival.
I can confirm that Passports are no longer required to visit Cornwall - but please check that all necessary jabs are up to date.
For New Boys benefit directions are head West at the southern end of the M5 - Should water start entering the car, you've gone too far !
Roger is correct that Sadly the Health and Safety have advised against holding the Nude Midnight Eastuary Dash Race the resident shark apparently gets stomache ache if it eats too many sailors.

Hi Dee Hi
Are we all going to try to camp in a circle so that we can defend against Camp (oops off camp types) Roger coming in and eating all the pies.
Oh yeh which hand is west Laura?
Andy, I realize that most Gloucester ites don't worry about parking cars in the sea as they spend most of the time under water anyway but I will do my best to keep mine nice and dry!
Midnight Dash. If Roger went in 1st the Shark would be full so safe for the rest of us!
Roger I only bump into things as when you sail as fast as I do it's hard to see things approaching!

ITS NEXT WEEKEND !!
If I was any good at computer stuff there would be a link here to a notice of race - it would contain tide times; pub opening times; definitions of emmets and grockles; alternative penalties for infringements in the bar etc
West is easy to find, turn right at the end of M5 - if you see signs for Coventry you've gone the wrong way, turn round ! Went as far as Plymouth last week, no roadworks on M5 and only a couple of miles of 40mph limit for road works along A38, alternatively you may prefer to use the A30 to Bodmin.
The locals have arranged for a very bright light to be placed in the habour that will be excellent to attract us Moths to the club when we get close.
~ If anyone else is thinking of joining us - the more the merrier, please let me know and I can let our hosts know in reasonable time.

BEER
PASTIES
TOENAILS ?......
All are ready to be painted, eaten or drunk.
Fowey locals have been busy for the past few days with their boat hoists getting boats out of the water - plenty of room for us all to play in.
Think we will be making an offering of the toenails to the shark.

Paited Lady is packed up and ready to go. The Carbon mast is making the trip too for it's sea trials.
I am almost ready but not sure what color to paint my toe nails I think I will go with Blue.
Thanks for your detailed directions but I have decided to follow my sat nav. Roger think of it as a Tic Tac or whatever they are called and you will be fine.
Last one on the water is a plop head!

The activities this weekend will be largely determined by Mutual Consent (must be a new member).
I thought it was 'Tick Tock' - though I later learnt it was also called a watch.
Last call for any undecided travellers !
