 Northampton Open - 12th & 13th July
« Thread Started on Jun 24, 2008, 7:58am »

Hi All

Who is the contact for Northampton?

I was hoping to camp on the Friday night. Will this be possible?

Who is coming out to play?

It is a fantastic lake to sail on and a great chance to get some lake practice in before the nationals!

Come play with me you know it makes sense!

We will be there ....easily the best sailing in our Event Listing and with excellent facilities as we all know....
Try contacting John Wayling,I am sure Big John will help if he can...will send his e-mail address to you.
We share the event with Byte,s[Sarah Gregson from Frampton will be there]who are holding their Inland Championships.

Every time I've decided I'm going to make an Open this year, I seem to have jinxed myself. So I'll settle with just saying that although I definately can't make the 13th cause I'm at Fairford, I'd like to make the 12th.

Northampton's two day event is up-coming and a last chance to get you and the boat in shape for the Nationals at Hunts S.C. in August. Have been in touch with Moth Friend John Wayling who advises that Rear Commodore Phil Kenney will probably be organising the event.

Commodore Ian Castle will be looking after the bar.

Most importantly Elaine and Vickie will be in the Galley.... give them a hug !

Expect briefing and race details to be posted here soon.

Have asked for details on camping, access to the Club on Friday and if it would be possible to sail/practice on the Friday evening.
We share the event with the BYTE Class .... it is their Inland Championship.

Have asked Foto-Boat to attend so lets hope we see a good turnout at this fantastic venue.

Here is the response from Northampton Sailing Club:...

Hi Laura,

For those that wish, camping is available and if people wish to drop off boats on Friday there will be someone at the Club from 10.30am. The bar usually opens at about 7pm, there is no food is available on site on Fridays but there is food available locally.

Your contact for the event is Ian Castle (Commodore)
The race officer will be Bruce Merry I will ask him to contact you regarding the Notice of Race and SIs

I have just spoken to Northampton and said we willbe roughly 12-13 and possibly camp followers on Saturday. As they have Club sailing and the Bytes they are not too worried about numbers on Sunday. The bar is open on Friday night so campers can get in until around 10:00pm - so we will probably drive up Friday night - if any earlieer arrivals hear a sad keening at the gate, please let us in!

Despite best efforts and previous intentions, work dictates that I'm not going to be able to make Northampton this weekend. Have a terrific time however, and see you all at the Nationals.

Have spoken with Elaine, the most important person at Northampton, the Catering supremo!!!She is not normally there on Saturdays but will now be serving food on both days to keep us going. I have said maximum of 20 and she is quite aware that Bytes are also there. She had heard nothing from them so I spoke to their Secretary (OlWen) and have arranged the catering for them. They expect approx 17 boats for their Inland Champs!!

The Notice of Race, entry form, and sailing instructions are available at www.northamptonsailingclub.org. There is a slight contradiction over start time of 1st Saturday race. The notice of race says 11.30 but the Sailing instructions say 12 noon. my guess is 12 noon.
You can of course print them off but there will no doubt be forms available on the day, and the entry fee is a very reasonable £15.00
